CRITICAL

Check before you start — Upbit withdrawal delay

Upbit delays digital asset withdrawals after a KRW deposit to prevent voice-phishing and other financial fraud. Confirm which rule applies to you.

Applies only to your first-ever KRW deposit. Automatically lifted after 72 hours

WHY

Why route through USDT?

USDT (Tether) is a stablecoin designed at 1 USDT = $1, offering low fees and fast settlement built for global transfers. It's the most stable and efficient way to move assets between Upbit and Gate.io.

HOW TO

Transfer steps

  1. 01

    Buy USDT on Upbit

Tap the search icon at the top of Upbit, search "테더" (Tether), and buy USDT for the seed amount you want to transfer.

    Buy USDT on Upbit
    Where to find
Upbit app → Top search → "테더" → Buy
  2. 02

    Get the Gate.io deposit address

Get a USDT deposit address from Gate.io. You must select the Tron/TRX network. If the network is different, funds will be lost without recovery.

    Get the Gate.io deposit address
    Where to find
    Gate.io app → Bottom-right Assets → Deposit → Onchain Deposit → USDT → Tron/TRX
Network selection — risk of permanent loss

You must select the same Tron/TRX network on both Upbit and Gate.io. If the networks don't match, funds will be sent on the wrong chain and cannot be recovered. Also, never type the address by hand — always copy and paste.

  3. 03

    Submit the withdrawal on Upbit

Back on Upbit, submit the USDT withdrawal. Select the Tron network, search for "게이트아이오" (Gate.io) as the destination, and paste the address you copied from Gate.io.

    Submit the withdrawal on Upbit
    Note
Upbit asks for consent to international personal-data transfer (Gate.io HQ: Panama). This is the normal flow — agree to proceed.
  4. 04

    Two-channel auth to finalize

After submitting, complete the KakaoTalk easy-auth to verify your identity. Once verified, return to Upbit and the withdrawal is finalized — USDT arrives at your Gate.io account within minutes.

    Two-channel auth to finalize
    Note
Once two-channel authentication is complete, the withdrawal cannot be cancelled. Double-check the destination address before authenticating.

  • Pasted the destination address — did not type it by hand
  • Confirmed the USDT deposit on Gate.io

FAQ

Frequently asked

If your Upbit account already exists and you have a past KRW deposit history, the 24-hour rule applies. 72 hours only applies if you're brand new to Upbit and this is your first-ever KRW deposit. If you're unsure, you can check your transaction history on Upbit — or just safely wait 72 hours.
Tron has the lowest USDT transfer fee (about 1 USDT) and the fastest settlement. Ethereum works too but costs around 4 USDT, so 5010 recommends Tron. Either way, the network must be the same on both Upbit and Gate.io.
Yes — Bithumb, Korbit, Coinone, or any Korean exchange will work for buying and transferring USDT. Each exchange's withdrawal delay rules and network options may differ slightly, so also check the guidance from your chosen exchange.
Typically it arrives within 5–20 minutes, but network congestion can extend it to up to an hour. If it doesn't arrive after an hour, find the transaction ID (TxID) in your Upbit withdrawal history and send it to your advisor.
Your advisor will walk through minimum seed sizing during your consultation. Annual fees range from 2%–5% depending on seed size, so we recommend discussing the right amount for your situation together.
